Missouri Valley College welcomed Elizabeth Gonzalez this week as a new admissions representative in the college’s Welcome Center.

Gonzalez, who holds a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State, came to Marshall, Mo. via Hawaii after her parents and her sister all moved to town. She is originally from California.

“In Hawaii I worked at Starbucks and did some substitute teaching,” she said. “I felt a sense of community there, and that’s one of the things I felt as soon as I got to Missouri, and more specifically, Marshall and Missouri Valley.”

She started working at the Missouri Valley Starbucks and was even selected as its top barista. But it didn’t take long to discover her talents. She was hired in just a matter of months.

“I’ve always loved being in education, working with people, and being a part of the community,” she said. “And I’m excited to help recruits and new students become involved in the Missouri Valley community.”

Gonzalez’ sister, Julieta, is married to Missouri Valley College women’s wrestling coach Kevin Corbett.
