A scholarship is money for college that you will not be expected to repay. Scholarships can come from many sources, including the College or an outside entity. A student is limited to scholarships not to exceed the cost of attendance. Institutional scholarships, in most cases, are not stackable. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the Financial Aid Office with information on all scholarships they expect to receive.

Letter of recommendation from organization is required prior to initial scholarship offer.

27 ACT or higher and/or SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1280 or higher. On-campus students only.

Renewal criteria: 3.0 GPA reviewed at the end of each academic year.

Florence Patterson & W.Y. Lockridge ScholarshipFull Tuition

Must be a graduate of Marshall High School and be recommended by either the principal or a guidance counselor. Selection for the recipient will be based on GPA, class rank, extracurricular and community involvement, and leadership experience. Student must also show financial need. Student must enroll full-time.

Applications are available annually in the Financial Aid Office by March 15th and are due by May 15th.

2019-2020 Lockridge Patterson Scholarship Application.

Renewal criteria: Must submit an application each year. 2.5 GPA and a full-time course load.

This scholarship is available to current and incoming students. Only one scholarship is awarded annually. This scholarship CANNOT be combined with any other institutional awards. Recipients will be repackaged with the Lockridge-Patterson award instead of any other MVC scholarships (including athletic).

Virginia Zank Scholarship (Writing Studies)$1000

ACT 21 or higher (and/or SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 976 or higher) and high school GPA 3.0.

Submit a 500-word essay describing your relationship to writing. What do you write? Why do you write? What are your writing goals for college? What are your writing goals after college? How will the Virginia Zank Scholarship help you achieve your goals?

Submit essays to Dr. Claire Schmidt ( in .pdf format. Applications are due by midnight on May 15, 2018.

Loren Gruber Scholarship (Literary Studies)$1000

ACT 21 or higher (and/or SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 976 or higher) and high school GPA 3.0.

Submit a 500-word essay about your favorite book, blog, poem, play, essay, or film. Explain how this text has influenced your goals for life before, during, and after college. How will the Loren Gruber Scholarship help you achieve your goals?

Drive 45 ScholarshipContact Admissions Office:

Open to all students attending a high school within 45 miles of the MVC campus.

High School graduates must enroll at MVC the semester following their high school graduation to be eligible.

Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time commuter status throughout their MVC academic career.

Students must enroll in either NP140 or NP240 during their first year of enrollment to fulfill the community service aspect of the scholarship.

Students have to meet the regular requirements for admission at Missouri Valley College. (18 ACT and 2.0 GPA)

Horatio Algerup to $21,300Competitive scholarship sponsored by Horatio Alger Association/MVC. Must be National winner or runner-up to qualify.
National PresbyterianVariesMember of Presbyterian Church, National Scholarship Applicant postmarked no later than December 1.
