Latest Edition of Purple Patch is Available

The 2026 edition of Missouri Valley University’s literary and arts journal, the  Purple Patch, is now available for pick up in the Murrell Memorial Library and Academic Support Center. Featuring original poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, academic prose, and artwork (photography, screen printing, painting, fiber arts, mixed media) by more than 30 MVU students, the Purple Patch is managed, edited, and published by members of the Nu Epsilon chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor Society.

The five-member editorial board of Sigma Tau Deltans includes:

  • Noel Nunn-Faron and Eva Agcaoili  – Co-Editors-in-Chief 
  • Eva Agcaoili – Academic Prose/Creative Nonfiction Editor
  • Abby Fletcher – Poetry Editor 
  • Kaya Gorrow – Art/Photography Editor
  • James Phillips – Fiction Editor

 

2025-2026 Purple Patch Editor’s Choice Awards went to:

  1. Creative Nonfiction: Braelen Toles, Lessons in Grief.
  2. Academic Prose: Camden Phillips, From Limited Powers to Industrial Management: Behind the Push for Reshoring Industry.
  3. Artwork: Azul Hernandez Jimenez, Viva America.
  4. Poetry: Eva Agcaoili, The Trees Speak to Me.
  5. Photography: Braelen Toles, Among the Small Things. 
  6. Fiction: Kyleigh Browning, There Were Signs.
  7. Vibrant Valley Theme Award For Cultural Significance: DeReal Morris, Wooden Spoon. 

 

Volume XXIV of the Purple Patch features work by: 

Eva Agcaoil, Vanessa Andrade, Tiffany Bergman, Jozelynn Botstick, Kyleigh Browning, Boe Caplan, Timothee Carpentier, Nelius De Jager, Abby Fletcher, Kaya Gorrow, Azul Hernandez Jimenez, DeRel Morris, Noel Nunn-Faron, Minjin Park, Jordan Pasbrig, Camden Phillips, Taniel Rolle, Reid Ronsley, Ashtyn Sagel, Janie Salazar-Guerrero, Jillyen Sentner, Tisha Tanaka Solopa, Martin Teseyra, Malia Todd, Braelen Toles, and Madison Woodworth.

In addition, the Nu Epsilon chapter of Sigma Tau Delta inducted two new members at their spring meeting and elected the following officers for the 2026-2027 academic year:  

President: Kaya Gorrow; Vice President: Abby Fletcher; Treasurer: Kaya Gorrow; Secretary: Jillyen Setner.
