Studio Art
I enjoy studying at MVC because it is a very friendly environment and everyone is willing to help you with anything you need or may be going through. It is a small town and college but it comes with big opportunities, like having my artwork on display at the Griot museum. All of the professors believe in you and never discourage your dreams.
Britny Fernandes has gained valuable experience at Missouri Valley College and is now an emerging artist in the regional art scene. Her focus is on texture, color and interaction and she loves when viewers can touch, feel and interact with her artwork. Her work has been displayed in a pop-up gallery in Marshall, in the Vernon Nester Gallery on campus and in the Griot Museum of Black History in St. Louis. Britny is familiar with a number of different art forms and she continues to experiment with each. She is a current fine arts student at Missouri Valley College, but has been producing art from as early as the first grade, gradually progressing every year. Britny would like to become an art/creative director and hopes to one day have her work displayed in movies, magazines, books, museums, billboards and all types of visual representations. Britny’s family is from Cape Verde, Africa, and English is her second language. Growing up, academics were a challenge for her but art never failed her and she has found her calling. Her influences came from everyday life experiences that inspire her to make art.
