Online Master of Science in Nursing Degree
Missouri Valley College School of Nursing uses the framework of the American Association of Colleges for Nursing to prepare its MSN students. Students are prepared to use best practices to assess, diagnose, interpret diagnostic work-up, and implement/evaluate plans of care for patients across the lifespan. Students also work with patients, families, and other disciplines to promote wellness and disease prevention.
The MSN, with focus on FNP program follows the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) guidelines. The graduate program offers continuous enrollment and online coursework using Canvas as the Learning Management System.

Criteria for Admission to MSN-FNP
Requirements for admittance to the MSN Program – FNP Online Track, and the NE Online Track, include the following:

- Application and admission to Missouri Valley College and School of Nursing. MVC MSN Program-FNP or NE Track Application
- Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the United States and its territories.
- Submission of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended and on file with the MVC Admissions Office.
- Completion of transcript review (to be on file in the Registrar’s office) with an academic plan of study completed by nursing and/or nursing-approved faculty.
- BSN from a nationally accredited program with a minimum of B in all nursing courses/clinicals.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Students who have completed Pathophysiology for Advanced Nursing Practice, Pharmacology for Advanced Nursing Practice, and Advanced Health Assessment within the last five years and obtained a B or higher may transfer these credits. However, these courses are also offered in the program.
- Submission of two professional references.
- Satisfactory criminal background check prior to the first semester of nursing coursework.
- The School of Nursing Faculty Committee will review all applicants for meeting admission criteria. Applicants not meeting criteria will be sent a letter by the Program Director/Dean or designee.
