Scholarships for Top Presenters at Student Research Symposium

More than 175 students presented May 5 at Missouri Valley College’s Spring Student Research Symposium, setting a record for participation. The symposium, now in its 8th year, featured academic, creative and professional student work.

The event culminates with the presentation of four $500 scholarships to the Excellence in Student Research Winners. They are:

Best Poster: Makayla Casjens for “Synthesis and Evaluation of Plant-Derived Growth Promoters as Antibiotic Alternatives in Livestock Feed

 Best Presentation: Estefano Delgado for “Microhabitat Selection of Snakes in Marshall Junction Conservation Area, Saline County”

Best Creative Works: Maria Greidner for “Performance of Distinction in Debate: Slam Poetry

Best Graduate Research: Dajah Robinson for “Balancing the Burden”

“The Symposium was incredible,” said President Joe Parisi. “Kudos to all of our students who worked so hard to prepare. And I can’t say enough about the staff and volunteers who made it happen.”

Jyoiti Chhertri received the People’s Choice Award for “A website for Time Management and Productivity.”
