MVC Announces New Master of Arts Program in Educational Administration
Missouri Valley College now offers a Master of Arts in Educational Administration program with classes to begin in fall 2019. Applications for admission into the program are currently being accepted.
Missouri Valley College has had a Master of Arts in Community Counseling program for a number of years so it is with much excitement that an additional master’s program is now available for individuals looking to further their education.
The purpose of the Master of Arts in Educational Administration program is to prepare students with the training to become effective school administrators. This program will lead to principalship certification at both the elementary and middle school level as well as the secondary level.
The program focuses on defining effective school leadership as related to the Missouri Model Leader Standards and Indicators. The standards organize the functions that help define strong school leadership in five areas. These standards represent the high-priority themes that education leaders must address in order to promote the success of every student.
“This graduate program will provide a great service to area educators and to students at Missouri Valley College. Dr. Diane Bartholomew, vice president of academic affairs, and Dr. Lisa Rice, assistant professor of education, did an excellent job navigating through the process to establish this program,” said Dr. Wellborn, dean of education.
To complete the program, students must finish at least 36 graduate credits, including the prescribed program requirements, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and no more than six hours below a grade of B. Embedded in the course work is the state-required, written assessment. The required 36 graduate credits may be taken over the span of two academic years with two fall semesters, two spring semesters and one summer semester.
