Parisi Addresses Missouri CBHE

Missouri Valley College President Joe Parisi was one of only three independent college presidents chosen to speak Wednesday to the state’s Coordinating Board for Higher Education, addressing how strategic planning and partnerships for higher education institutions can align with state workforce and economic development goals.

Parisi spoke from his own experiences at Missouri Valley, where strategic planning is interwoven into the leadership culture, and partnerships are intentional and coordinated.

Regarding partnerships, Parisi provided several recent MVC examples that ranged from local community partnerships to various county partnerships and corporate and academic partnerships as well.

He mentioned a recent critical workforce development need brought up by Fitzgibbon Hospital that led to the college starting a program in diagnostic medical sonography. In addition, he said he was signing an articulation agreement the same day with the University of Missouri to facilitate transfers from the MVC master’s in education to the Education Specialist degree at Mizzou.
