MVC TO CONFER 247 DEGREES AT COMMENCEMENT

Missouri Valley College will confer 247 degrees to students at its commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. on May 7 at Gregg-Mitchell Field on the MVC campus. The class of 2022 consists of 232 undergraduate students and 15 students graduating from the College’s graduate programs in community counseling and education administration.

MVC Alumna Carrie (Harmon) Moore  will give the Commencement address.

Carrie Moore is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Medical Assistant for SSM Health, located in St. Louis Missouri. Carrie is a 1999 graduate of Missouri Valley College, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Biology. During her time at Missouri Valley College she was a member of the volleyball program and assisted as a student trainer.

After graduation, Carrie received a Master of Science in Athletic Training Administration from Lindenwood University. She began her career as an Athletic Trainer at Missouri Valley College for softball, volleyball, and the men’s and women’s wrestling teams. Carrie also spent several years at Lindenwood University, athletic training for the men’s basketball team and men’s volleyball team and the men’s and women’s track and cross country teams. Recently, Carrie provided athletic training at Work-Fit, a nationwide leader of applying sports medicine techniques in the workplace to prevent injuries, increase productivity rates, and create savings for employers.

Carrie is dedicated to health sciences and the people she serves. Not only has she helped different athletic programs, student-athletes, and workplace groups, but has served as Athletic Trainer for the US Women’s Wrestling Team. She has worked with the team during two Summer Olympic Games, 2012 in London and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. During her time with them she assisted the US team at four Senior World Cups and six Senior World Championships. Carrie is well respected among her peers, athletes, and extended Missouri Valley family.

In 2021, Carrie was inducted into the Missouri Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame for her work as an athletic trainer.

Carrie resides in Wentzville, Missouri with her husband, Jason, and two sons, Emerson and Garrett. 

Carrie Moore will be presented with an honorary doctorate at the 2022 commencement ceremony.

Dr. Diane Bartholomew, vice president of academic affairs, will present two students with the Charles L. Bacon Distinguished Service Award. The award is given annually to a senior man and woman, which are voted on by the senior class.
