Missouri Valley College plans on ramping up campus spirit in the fall and has invested in the development of a pep band.

The college has hired Eddie Carr, a seasoned band recruiter and developer, to put the band together. Carr has previous experience at Culver Stockton College and Maryville University, and brings a new energy level to the campus.

“I’m excited to be at Missouri Valley and contribute to the campus experience,” Carr said. “We will be a musical, theatrical crew that brings something extra to football and basketball games and other special events,” Carr said. “There is a lot of interest in the community and throughout Missouri.”

Carr will work closely with Dr. Joe Alsobrook, MVC’s vice president of strategic initiatives and online programs. Carr said he and Alsobrook have had discussions about the future, and hope that the pep band is only the first step toward more music opportunities for students at Missouri Valley College.

Carr himself plays the horn, trumpet and keyboard, and writes music. He studied composition and received a BA in music from Brigham Young University. Currently, he writes and performs with his own alternative rock combo, The Eddie Carr Five.
