First-time freshmen

Four steps to apply.

Most students finish the application in just a few minutes. Your transcripts complete your file.

Step 1

Review the admission requirements

First-time freshmen who meet these criteria receive automatic, regular admission:

A cumulative high school GPA of 2.30 or higher.

Rank in the top half of your graduating class.

ACT and SAT scores are not required.

Step 2

Complete the application

Fill out the online application for admission. There’s no application fee.

Step 3

Send your high school transcript

Send a transcript that shows at least five semesters of completed coursework. You’ll send a final transcript after you graduate.

If you earned a high school equivalency (HSE) or GED, request an official copy of your results from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Step 4

Send college transcripts, if you have them

If you took dual credit or dual enrollment courses in high school, send official college transcripts for all of them.

Transfer students

Bring your credits with you.

Your previous college work counts toward your admission. Here’s what you need to know, or see how your credits transfer.

Admission requirements

Transfer admission is based on your academic record from every accredited institution you’ve attended.

With 27 or more completed college credit hours, you’ll be admitted with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher across all coursework.

With fewer than 27 completed college credit hours, you’ll be admitted based on freshman admission standards.

What to send

Complete the free online application.

Send official college transcripts from every accredited institution you’ve attended.

With fewer than 27 credit hours, also send your high school transcript or HSE/GED results.

Returning students

If you attended Missouri Valley and have been away for at least one semester, you can reapply as a returning (re-admit) student.

Returning students are held to the same academic standards as current students. If your cumulative GPA across all coursework at all colleges is below 2.0, your application will be reviewed under the university’s Academic Standards.

Visiting students

Enrolled at another college or university? You can take courses at Missouri Valley by completing a Visiting Student Enrollment Form.

International students

International applicants have additional requirements for documents, English proficiency, and visas.

Graduate students

Apply to a master’s program.

Every graduate applicant meets the general requirements below. Some programs set a higher GPA or add other admission criteria, often because of licensing or accreditation standards, so check the requirements for your program, too.

General graduate requirements

A completed application for admission.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in all undergraduate coursework. If you hold a graduate degree from an accredited institution, your graduate GPA may be used instead.

Official transcripts from every college or university you’ve attended, plus GRE scores if your program requires them. Admission decisions are made once all transcripts and scores are received.

An updated resume.

International graduate applicants

All international transcripts must be evaluated by INCRED (preferred) or a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) before admission.

The Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Education Administration, and Master of Science in Nursing–Family Nurse Practitioner programs are pending review by the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Until that review is complete, I-20s cannot be issued for these programs.

Program requirements

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field with at least a 3.0 GPA, or a bachelor’s degree in another field with at least a 3.0 GPA plus two years of work experience in a business decision-making role.

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

An up-to-date resume or CV describing your academic and professional background.

Exceptions may be granted for applicants with significant work experience or strong academic backgrounds.

Program requirements

Master of Arts in Community Counseling (MACC)

A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a major in psychology or a closely related field. If your major is closely related, you’ll need to complete General or Introduction to Psychology and two other social science courses before starting MACC classes.

A GPA of at least 2.5 for your last 60 hours of undergraduate work.

A personal statement (1–3 typed pages) on why you want to pursue the MACC and your professional goals.
