Parents & Families

Partners in your student’s success.

Whether your student is just starting to look at colleges or already calls Valley home, you likely have questions about costs, academics, campus life, and safety. Find the answers and resources you need here.

Your changing role

College is different from high school.

Your student is now an adult learner. Your support still matters, but how you stay informed will change.

Understanding FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affects how colleges can communicate with parents and others. Unlike in high school, the university may not be able to share details about your student's grades, finances, or records with you directly.

The best way to stay informed is to talk regularly with your student. If you have questions about student records and privacy, contact the Office of the Registrar.
