Get help
See something? Say something.
Report a concern, share a tip, or find something you’ve lost. The sooner you report, the sooner we can help.
Report a crime or incident
Call 660-815-5145 right away for crimes in progress, incidents, and emergencies. For non-emergencies, visit the Public Safety Office in the Ferguson Center during business hours, or report online.
Share an anonymous tip
Have information about a crime or incident? You can share it without giving your name. MVU will take reasonable action on every report, but anonymous tips can limit how fully an issue is resolved. To file a formal report, call Public Safety.
Lost & found
Public Safety holds all lost property found on campus. Check the Public Safety Office in the Ferguson Center. Items are generally held for 90 days before they’re donated or discarded.

Previous years
Timely warnings and emergency alerts
When a reported crime may pose a serious or continuing threat to the campus community, MVU issues a timely warning, as required by the Clery Act, so you can protect yourself.
The Annual Security & Fire Safety Report explains when and how MVU issues timely warnings and emergency notifications.
Protect your belongings
Operation ID
Operation Identification is a nationally recognized theft-prevention program used by law enforcement agencies across the country. MVU uses it to help deter theft of personal property on campus.
MVU assumes no liability for personal property.
Two simple steps
- Record it. Fill out a property inventory form (PDF) for items you bring to campus, and return it to Public Safety to keep on file.
- Mark it. Borrow an engraving tool from Public Safety to mark your personal property.

Parking policy & registration
Park with confidence.
Everyone in the MVU community who parks on campus must register their vehicle.
Before you park
- Register your vehicle with the Department of Public Safety or the Division of Student Affairs.
- Display a valid parking decal whenever you’re parked on MVU property.
- Follow the rules of the road: obey state and local laws and posted speed limits, drive only on designated roadways, and park only in designated areas.
- Only authorized personnel may use university-owned vehicles.
MVU is not responsible for loss of or damage to vehicles or their contents while parked on MVU property.
Parking violations
| Violation | Fine |
|---|---|
| Not registering a vehicle | $50 (1st offense); tow at owner’s expense (2nd offense) |
| Parking outside a marked space | $35 |
| Parking in an unauthorized space | $35 |
| Blocking another vehicle | $50 |
| Parking on grass or a sidewalk | $150 |
| Parking in a fire lane | $150 |
| Parking in an accessible (handicap) space | $200 |
Repeated violations may lead to loss of parking privileges and/or disciplinary action. Driving on non-designated areas, such as grass, may result in additional charges for property damage. Vehicles in fire lanes or non-designated areas may be towed without warning, and abandoned vehicles will be towed, at the owner’s expense.
