Tuition & Financial Aid
Grants
Grants are financial aid you don’t repay. Most are based on financial need, so filing the FAFSA is your first step toward every grant on this page.
Before you apply
Three things to do
- File the FAFSA with MVU’s school code, 002489.
- Missouri resident? File by February 1 to be considered for state grants.
- Keep up your grades and pace. Most grants renew each year only if you meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Federal grants
Need-based help from the federal government.
The FAFSA decides whether you qualify. Your award depends on your financial need, your cost of attendance, and how many credit hours you take.
Federal Pell Grant
For undergraduates with financial need who are enrolled at least half time. It renews each year as long as you meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Pell is paid at the start of each semester. Federal Student Aid sets the maximum award each year.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Extra help for full-time students with exceptional financial need who also receive a Pell Grant. MVU receives a limited amount of FSEOG funding each year and awards it first come, first served, so file your FAFSA early. Amounts vary. To keep FSEOG, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Receiving FSEOG may adjust your MVU award.
Missouri grants
State aid for Missouri students.
Missouri’s Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development runs these programs and sets current award amounts.
Access Missouri Grant
A need-based grant for Missouri residents enrolled full time. File the FAFSA by February 1 before the school year.
To renew, keep at least a 2.5 GPA, meet the FAFSA deadline, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Bright Flight Scholarship
A merit-based state award for top-ranked high school seniors who earn a qualifying ACT score set by the state and attend an approved Missouri school. File the FAFSA.
To renew, keep at least a 2.5 GPA and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant
Helps adults pay for a certificate, degree, or credential in a high-need field. It can be used for both online and in-person MVU programs.
More help
Other aid you may qualify for.
These programs aren’t federal or state grants, but they can lower what you pay.
MVU awards and grants
MVU offers institutional awards in many areas. They’re included in your aid offer when you qualify.
Veterans benefits
Think you’re eligible for G.I. Bill benefits? Contact your local Veterans Affairs office and MVU’s Office of the Registrar.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Students with disabilities may qualify for help through their regional Vocational Rehabilitation office. Contact that office about benefits.
Withdrawing can affect your grants. If you leave before the semester ends, part of your federal grant may have to be returned. Learn what happens if you withdraw.
