MVC DIVISION OF FINE ARTS TO HOST WINTER CONCERT

The Missouri Valley College Division of Fine Arts will host its Winter Music Concert November 12-13 at 7:30 p.m. nightly in Eckilson-Mabee Theatre. The November 12 performance will be for MVC faculty, staff and students and the November 13 performance will be for performing student’s families.  The November 12 concert will also be livestreamed for anyone wishing to watch virtually.

This year’s concert will feature the MVC Music Theatre Ensemble and the MVC Concert Choir. A variety of music is planned for the evening’s concert. The Music Theatre Ensemble, under the direction of Diana Malan will open the concert with Cups (When I’m Gone), Danny Boy, Bring Me Little Water Sylvie, Be My Baby and Mama, and I’m a Big Girl Now from Hairspray.  The MVC Concert Choir, under the direction of Cheryl Lines,  will perform Canticum Novum, Away From the Roll of the Sea, and I Can See the River Jordan. The groups will share some holiday favorites including Coventry Carol, Deck the Hall, O Magnum Mysterium, Sleigh Ride, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and Believe from Polar Express.  The groups will join together for the finale number, This is My Wish.

Area students participating with the two groups include Lexi Blumhorst, Regan Godsey, Isabelle Guthrey, and Nicholas Smith.  Harold Hynick is the show’s technical director.  Dyann Rozema is the show’s costumer and Janie Morgan, Kaylee Hering and Amanda Postlethwait provided the choreography for the Music Theatre Ensemble.
