MVC Division of Fine Arts to Host Annual Summer Performing Arts Camp
Missouri Valley College’s Division of Fine Arts will host the annual Summer Fine & Performing Arts Camp from June 17-21 on the MVC campus.
The day long camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the half day elementary camp will run from 9:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. The half day camp will include introductory classes in dance, art and music while the full camp will include classes in musical theatre, acting, Shakespeare, improv, vocal music and art. The camp will culminate in a performance showcase at 6:30 p.m. on June 21.
The cost for the full day camp is $60 for those that have registered and paid by May 1 and $80 for those that have registered and paid after May 1. The cost for the half day camp is $40 for those that have registered and paid by May 1 and $60 for those that have registered and paid after May 1. Full tuition scholarships to cover the cost of the camp are offered to full day camp students who may not be able to afford the camp otherwise. Scholarship applications are due by May 1.
“The arts are important in developing self-confidence and empathy, they also allow us to celebrate the world around us,” said Harold Hynick, associate professor of theatre. “It is a joy to work with these young students as they discover and develop their talents.”
