A home away from home
Find your chapter. Build bonds for life.
Joining a fraternity or sorority gives you a close community on campus, plus chances to lead, serve, and grow. Fraternities and sororities have been part of Missouri Valley since 1945, and membership lasts a lifetime.

Driven by values
Four pillars. One Greek community.
Every chapter is different, but they share the same foundation. These are the commitments Greek students at MVU live out together.
Scholarship
Grades come first. Each chapter sets a plan to meet or beat a 2.5 chapter GPA, with study groups, tutoring, and an officer focused on academics.
Leadership
Chapters are run by students. Officer roles let you plan events, manage a budget, lead meetings, and mentor new members.
Service
Every chapter takes on community service and philanthropy projects each year, for causes from St. Jude to Special Olympics.
Brotherhood & sisterhood
Find friends who push you to be your best, during college and long after. Once you’re initiated, you’re a member for life.
Celebrate together. Each spring, Greek Week and the Greek Awards Banquet bring every chapter together to celebrate the year and recognize members and chapters.
Our chapters
Four chapters. Find your fit.

Safety & standards
A hazing-free community.
Hazing has no place in Greek life at MVU. It’s against Missouri law, the Student Code of Conduct, and the policies of every chapter and its national organization.
- Every fraternity and sorority member signs an anti-hazing agreement.
- Chapters share their recruitment and new member plans with Greek Life staff before activities begin.
- Chapters complete risk management plans and hazing prevention education each year.
- Reported hazing can lead to suspension of the chapter, discipline for individuals, and criminal charges under state law.

Questions
Greek life FAQ.
Answers to the questions students and families ask most.
Why go Greek?
Students join for many reasons: a close community, lasting friendships, leadership experience, service opportunities, and academic support. For many members, their chapter becomes a home away from home.
When is recruitment?
Recruitment is open year-round, so you can join a chapter any time during the school year. Email greeklife@moval.edu to find out about upcoming recruitment events.
Will Greek life hurt my grades?
Scholarship is one of the foundations of Greek life. Every chapter has an officer dedicated to academics and a plan to help members succeed, from study groups to tutoring, while celebrating members who do well.
Will I be hazed?
No. Hazing is against Missouri law, MVU policy, and the policies of every chapter and its national organization. Every member signs an anti-hazing agreement. If you ever have a concern, report it.
How much does it cost?
Joining carries a financial commitment. Each chapter is supported by member dues and fees. Costs vary by chapter, so ask before you accept a bid and talk it over with your family. Some chapters can make accommodations for special circumstances.
Does membership matter after graduation?
Yes. Membership is for life. Each national organization has an alumni network that can help you connect for internships and jobs, and many have alumni groups in cities across the country.
