Sara Fletcher is a figurative painter originally from Chautauqua, NY. Fletcher earned her MFA in painting from the University of Iowa, a post-Baccalaureate Certificate in painting from Brandeis University, and a BFA in ceramic sculpture from Alfred School of Art & Design. In October 2019, Fletcher had a solo exhibit of her paintings & drawings, Preparations, at Prince Street Gallery in New York, NY. One of Fletcher’s paintings was awarded honorable mention by Hrag Vartanian, editor-in-chief of Hyperallergic, at the 58th Chautauqua Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Strohl Art Center, Chautauqua, NY. She has shown at the Small Works Invitational at Blue Mountain Gallery, New York, NY and at group exhibits in New York, Virginia, Missouri, and Kentucky. Fletcher’s paintings aim to weave together different kinds of light to touch on how imagination of the heart and mind influences the way the world looks. Fletcher has been assistant professor of studio art at Missouri Valley College since 2017. She has been the director of the Morris Gallery of Contemporary Art at Missouri Valley College since January 2019. In 2018, she won the MVC Professional Development Grant to obtain her certification in Green Printmaking through Zea Mays Print Shop in Northampton, MA. Fletcher’s artist website is
