Definition of Terms:

  1. Credit Hours – the hours assigned to the course.  A course meets approximately 750 minutes per credit hour.  The credit hour is listed in the schedule of classes, catalog and on individual course schedules.
  2. Quality Points – the numerical value assigned to a grade:  A = 4 points; B = 3 points; C = 2 points; D = 1 point and F = 0.
  3. Attempted Hours – credit hours for which you earn a grade (excluding IN’s, P, W, or WP).  Note WF is the same as an F and counts in the attempted hours.
  4. Earned Hours – credit hours that you passed with a grade of D or higher.
  5. Repeat Hours – when a course in which you received a substandard grade is taken for a second time and indicated on your transcript.  The first grade will then be excluded from your g.p.a.  (Please note that the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association does not honor academic repeats and therefore all repeats must be manually recalculated for rodeo eligibility).

To calculate your grade point average:  Total quality points divided by attempted hours.
