Spring Viking Student-Athletes Receive Academic Honors

Marshall, Mo. (May 31, 2017)- The NAIA has announced the 2017 Spring Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes.  To be eligible for this honor student-athletes must be nominated by their institution’s head coach, must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status in the classroom.


Missouri Valley College had 13 student-athletes achieve this honor;

Turner Herbek (Sr., Pacific, Mo.)-Baseball

Dario Marquez (Sr., Miami, Fla.)-Baseball

Jacob Scribner (Sr., Raymore, Mo.)-Baseball

Shawn Cook (Jr., Hamilton, Mo.)-Men’s Golf

Alex Aubrecht (Jr., Farmington, Minn.)-Men’s Lacrosse

Shaye Jenrich (Sr., Farmington, Minn.)-Women’s Lacrosse

Erika King (Sr., Pleasant Hill, Mo.)-Softball

Abdul Alhamzawi (Jr., Pompano Beach, Fla.)-Men’s Tennis

Mohamed Diyani (Sr., El Jadidad, Morocco)-Men’s Volleyball

Gustavo Kozma Maccori (Sr., Sao Paulo, Brazil)-Men’s Volleyball

Andrea Maggio (Jr., Vasto, Italy)-Men’s Volleyball

Matheus Marinho Pereria (Sr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)-Men’s Volleyball

Casey Wood (Sr., Hermosa Beach, Fla.)-Men’s Volleyball


In addition, Junior Tobias Barnes (Romulus, Mich.) was named to the 2017 NWCA NAIA All-Academic Team.  Those selected must be an All-American from the 2017 NAIA Wrestling National Championship, and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
