Track and Field Teams Set for NAIA National Championships

Marshall, Mo. (May 25, 2017)- The Missouri Valley College outdoor track and field teams are in Gulf Shores, Ala., for the 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.  Five Viking student-athletes will compete in three events over the weekend.


Two Vikings will compete in the 100 meter dash.  Freshman Maurice Davis (Benton, Mo.) will take part in the men’s prelims, Friday at 3:10 p.m.  The event final will be Saturday at 4 p.m.  Freshman Malon Lee (Kansas City, Mo.) will compete in the women’s prelims Friday at 2:50 p.m., with the event final set for Saturday at 3:50 p.m.  Davis qualified for the event with a 10.54 during the season, while Lee ran a 12.05 to qualify.


Also, three Vikings will run in the men’s marathon, Saturday at 6 a.m.  Junior Derek Wilson (Linneus, Mo.) qualified in a time of 1:11:47, Junior Edwin Ortiz Lopez (Santa Ana, Calif.) qualified with a time of 1:11:57 and Junior Victor Reveles (Los Angeles, Calif.) qualified with a time of 1:21:50.


The 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship features events Thursday through Saturday at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.
