Viking Women's Golf Competes at Heart Championship

Marshall, Mo. (May 9, 2017)- The Missouri Valley College women’s golf team competed at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship at Edmunson Golf Course in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  The Vikings finished sixth with one individual finishing in the top 12.


Leading the women’s golf team was Freshman Mariah Farden (Cheyenne, Wyo.), who finished No. 12 overall with a +18 (160).  Farden trimmed four shots off her first round score, finishing with a +6 (78) in round two.  She finished ten strokes behind the individual champion.  Following Farden was Sophomore Maleya Schmidt (St. Charles, Mo.) who placed in a tie for No. 34 with a +43 (185), while Freshman Emma Sperry (Garnerville, Nev.) came in at No. 38 with a +46 (188).  Sophomore Kelsea Miller (Highland, Calif.) rounded out the team scorers, coming in at a tie for No. 40 with a +50 (192).  Sophomore Angelique Agim (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) placed No. 49 with a +64 (206).


The Vikings placed sixth overall, with a final score of 725.  The team trimmed seven shots off their score from round one to a 359 in round two.  The team champion was William Penn (Iowa) University, which shot a 607.


In addition to her play during the conference championship, Farden was chosen to the 2017 Heart Women’s Golf All-Conference Team.
