Missouri Valley Men's Lacrosse No. 1 Seed as NAIA Men's Lacrosse National Invitational Bracket Announced

Marshall, Mo. (April 23, 2017)- The Missouri Valley College men’s lacrosse team enters the NAIA Men’s Lacrosse National Invitational as the field’s No. 1 seed.  The Vikings earned a spot in the National tournament by capturing the KCAC Postseason Tournament championship Saturday afternoon.

 

Missouri Valley enters the National championship event with an overall record of 13-1.  The Vikings open play at the National tournament by taking on No. 8 seed The University of St. Mary. USM earned a spot in the National invitational with an at-large bid, and enter the tournament with a 8-8 record. The two teams met in the KCAC Postseason Tournament championship game Saturday, the Vikings won 15-8. Missouri Valley also beat USM when they met in the regular season, 18-5.

 

The quarterfinal game will be played May 3 at 4 p.m., CST, at Sirrine Stadium in Greenville, S.C.  The winner of the Missouri Valley/St. Marygame will play the winner of the No. 4 Keiser (Fla.)/ No. 5 Missouri Baptist game.  The other side of the bracket features No. 2  Reinhardt (Ga.)/No. 7 Lawrence Tech (Mich.) and No. 3 Lourdes (Ohio) College/No.6 Indiana Tech quarterfinal matchups.

 

In addition to the National brackets being announced, the NAIA Men’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Final Top Ten Poll was released. The Vikings came in at No. 1 in the rankings for the ninth week in a row.  The Vikings were the unanimous pick, claiming all eight first-place votes and 98 total points
