Women's Golf Competes at William Penn

Marshall, Mo. (April 18, 2017)- The Missouri Valley College women’s golf team competed at the Mike “Fluff” Cowan Invitational, hosted by William Penn (Iowa) University, at Edumnson Golf Course Monday and Tuesday in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  The women’s team placed seventh in the standings with on top ten individual.

 

Leading the women’s golf team was Freshman Mariah Farden (Cheyenne, Wyo.), who finished with a tie for ninth with a final score of +20 (162).    Farden shot a +12 (83) in the first round, but came back to shoot a +8 (79) in the second round.  Her second round score was the fifth-lowest out of those competing Tuesday.  Following Farden was Freshman Emma Sperry (Garnverville, Nev.) who shot a +40 (182) in the two rounds to place in a tie for No. 29.  Sophomore Kelsea Miller (Highland, Calif.) shot a +46 (188) to finish in a tie for No. 35 and Sophomore Maleya Schmidt (St. Charles, Mo.) finished out the team scorers with a +54 (196) to come in at No. 40.  Sophomore Angelique Agim (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) placed in a tie for No. 48 with a +74 (216).

 

As a team, the Vikings finished with a final score of 728, to place seventh overall.  William Penn won the event, shooting a two-round score of 622.

 

Up next for the women’s golf team is the CMU Eagle Open, set for April 24-25 at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, Mo.
