Viking Track and Field Compete at Pitt State

Marshall, Mo. (April 15, 2017)- The Missouri Valley College outdoor track and field teams competed at the David Suenram Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State (Kan.) University.  Freshman Maurice Davis met the National qualifying standard in the men's 100 meter dash to lead the team.

 

Men’s Results:

Freshman Maurice Davis (Benton, Mo.) placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.54.  Davis met the “A” qualifying standard in the event, and is eligible to compete at the 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., May 25-27.  Davis also competed in the 200 meter dash, and placed No. 24 with a time of 22.52.

 

Freshman Aaron Taylor (Westchester, Ill.) placed No. 39 in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.15.

 

Freshman Demarkous Nunnally (Dallas, Texas) placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:56.29

 

Junior Ulises Ortiz (North Hills, Calif.) placed fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:29.50

 

Freshman Justin Kita (Erie, Pa.) placed No. 16 in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:22.29.

 

Freshman Brieon Randle (St. Louis, Mo.) finished seventh in the 400 meter dash in a time of 50.33, and placed No. 27 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.59.

 

Freshman Trevon Stith (Hempstead, N.Y.) placed No. 25 in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.56.

 

Freshman Franklin Williams (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) placed No. 23 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.27.

 

Junior Christopher Essman (Topeka, Kan.) placed No. 13 in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:00.83.

 

Junior Jason Matthews (St. Louis, Mo.) placed No. 14 in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:01.09.

 

Sophomore Nathan Vogelmeier (Sweet Springs, Mo.) placed No. 13 in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:00.39.

 

Freshman Austin Johnson placed ninth in the 5000 meter run in a time of 16:36.29.

 

 

Women’s Results:

Freshman Malon Lee (Kansas City, Mo.) placed No. 14 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.35.  She also placed eighth in the 200 meter run in a time of 25.35.

 

Freshman Lacey Toynes (Dallas, Texas) finished No. 17 in the hammer throw with a distance of 28.57 meters.  She also placed No. 22 in the discus with a distance of 26.42 meters. 

Freshman Sheila Lazaro (Murcia, Spain) placed No. 16 in the long jump with a distance of 4.96 meters. She also placed No. 21 in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.17.

 

Freshman Cristina Lozano (Murcia, Spain) placed No. 26 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.27.

 

Junior Dorothy Adams (Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.) placed ninth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:24.59.

 

The track and field teams will next compete at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open at Baker (Kan.) University, April 29.
