Viking Cheer Team Places Seventh at National Championship

Marshall, Mo. (March 11, 2017)- The Missouri Valley College cheerleading team continued competition at the 2017 NAIA Competitive Cheerleading and Dance Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., Saturday afternoon.  The Vikings finished the event in seventh place.

 

The Viking cheer team entered the final competition in fifth place after the preliminary round.  Missouri Valley held a score of 75.02 after the first competition.  Saturday, after the final competition, the Vikings finished with a total score of 73.33, and finished in seventh place. 

 

The team National champion was Oklahoma City University, which finished with a core of 87.08.  Only one other team from the Heart of America Athletic Conference competed at the National championship.  MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University placed No. 11 with a total score of 64.93.

 

Midland (Neb.) University won the Dance National championship, finishing with a score of 91.38.
