Marshall, Mo. (February 27, 2017)- Missouri Valley College men’s basketball student-athlete Senior Brody Gronewold (Carthage, Ill.) has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference 2017 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team.  Gronewold was a second team selection.

Gronewold finished the season as the team leader in points per game (16.5), minutes per game (37.6), free throw percentage (.797) and free throws made (106).  He ranked seventh in the Heart in points per game and total points (461), fourth in three-point field goals per game (2.5) and eighth in assists (90).  Gronewold’s 45 points in a win over then-No. 24 Grand View (Iowa) University, on Feb. 18, were the most by any player in Heart men’s basketball this season.  The 45 points also tied a program record for single-game points.  Gronewold became the eleventh player in program-history to eclipse the 1000-point mark.  Gronewold sits with 1001 points scored during his career with the men’s basketball team.  This is the second all-conference selection for Gronewold at Missouri Valley.  He was a second team choice following the 2015-16 season.

The Viking men’s basketball team finished its regular season with a 13-16 overall record, and an 11-15 record in conference games.  Missouri Valley earned the No. 10 seed in the Heart Postseason Tournament, and will travel to No. 7 seed Central Methodist (Mo.) University for a game Tuesday at 7 p.m.  The winner will move into the quarterfinal round to play at No. 2 seed Grand View (Iowa) University Thursday.
