Three Vikings Qualify For National Championship in Half Marathon

Marshall, Mo. (December 12, 2016)- Three members of the Missouri Valley College men’s track team competed at the Benedictine (Kan.) College Half Marathon Sunday in Atchison, Kan.  All three student-athletes met the National qualifying “A” standard at the event.


Leading the trio of Vikings was Derek Wilson, who finished the 13.1 mile race in a time of 1:11:47.  He was followed by Edwin Ortiz Lopez’s time of 1:11:57, while Victor Reveles finished in a time of 1:12:52.  All three finished ahead of the “A” standard of 1:13:30.


The three runners have now qualified to compete in the half marathon event at the 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, set for May 25-27 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.
