Viking Women's Wrestling Moves to No. 12 in Coaches' Poll

Marshall, Mo. (December 1, 2016)- The Missouri Valley College women’s wrestling moved up eight spots in the latest WCWA Coaches’ Poll, with three individuals ranked in their respective weight classes.


The Viking women’s wrestling team is ranked No. 12 in the latest coaches’ poll, tied with Life (Ga.) University.  The team has competed at the Oklahoma City University Open, the Missouri Valley Open, placed eighth at the Patriot Duals and lost a dual to No. 2 McKendree (Ill.) University.


In addition to the No. 12 team ranking, three Vikings are ranked individually.  Senior Christy Powell (Powder Springs, Ga.) is ranked No. 5 at 116 pounds, Junior Alicia Reyes (Blue Springs, Mo.) is ranked No. 7 at 123 pounds and Junior Alyssa Cantu (Stockton, Calif.) is ranked No. 8 at 191 pounds.


The women’s wrestling team will next compete at the NWCA National Duals, Jan. 5-6, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
