Marshall, Mo. (November 3, 2016)- Senior Outside Hitter Samantha Voils (Nokomis, Ill.) has been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Volleyball Team for her performance on the court and in the classroom.

Voils was chosen the All-District 3 Team, and carries a 4.0 GPA with majors in finance and accounting.  This season, Voils ranks second on the team in kills (278), kills per game (2.48) and total points (299.5).  She also leads the team, and ranks tenth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, in hitting percentage (.242).

In addition to today’s award from CoSIDA, Voils also earned first team all-conference honors and was chosen to the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association NAIA Midwest Region Team, both following the 2015 season.

“This is a great achievement for Sam, as she sets a high standard for herself in the classroom,” said Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Brett Holt.  “Sam will graduate as a double major in finance and accounting and has a strong desire to be successful.  She is a great role model for the underclassmen in our program.”

Voils is now eligible for the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced Dec. 5.

The Viking women’s volleyball team now enters the 2-16 Heart Postseason Tournament with a 28-8 overall record.  Missouri Valley will be the No. 5 seed in the tournament, and travels to No. 4 seed Peru State (Neb.) College in a quarterfinal match Saturday at 5 p.m.  The Vikings lost to the Bobcats on the road in three games back on Oct. 25.
