Marshall, Mo. (October 30, 2016)- The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s soccer teams are set to play in the quarterfinal rounds of their respective postseason tournaments in the Heart.  The Viking women’s team will be the No. 4 seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Postseason Tournament, while the men’s team will be the No. 5 seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Postseason Tournament.

The women’s soccer team finished its regular season with an overall record of 10-5-2, and a conference record of 7-3-2.  Missouri Valley will host No. 5 seed Central Methodist (Mo.) University in the quarterfinal round, Friday, at Gregg-Mitchell Field.  Both teams finished with a 7-3-2 record in Heart matches, but Missouri Valley won the tiebreaker between the two teams, due to a greater goal differential in conference matches.  The two teams played in Marshall, Mo., back on Sept. 24 with the teams playing to a 0-0 tie.  The Viking women’s soccer team will be searching for the program’s first conference postseason tournament win, since topping Avila (Mo.) University, 4-1, in a tournament match played on Nov. 2, 2012.

The Viking men’s soccer team finished its season with an overall record of 11-5-2 and a conference record of 7-3-2.  Missouri Valley will play on the road in the quarterfinal round in Fayette, Mo., Saturday against No. 4 seed Central Methodist (Mo.) University.  The Eagles defeated the Vikings in the regular season matchup on Sept. 24, 3-1.  Missouri Valley won the men’s soccer postseason tournament last season.

The Missouri Valley women’s home quarterfinal match will take place Friday at 7 p.m., at Gregg-Mitchell Field.  The men’s start time Saturday in Fayette, Mo., will be announced at a later time.  Additional information on the conference postseason tournaments can be found at
