Men's Cross Country Moves to No. 9 in Latest Coaches' Poll

Marshall, Mo. (October 26, 2016)- The Missouri Valley College men’s cross country team continues its climb up the latest NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.  The Vikings moved up one spot to the No. 9 ranking.


The Viking men’s cross country team is coming off a second place finish at the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan., Saturday.  Missouri Valley finished behind No. 6 Oklahoma City (Okla.) University, but placed ahead of No. 21 Bacone (Okla.) College and No. 24 Wayland Baptist (Texas) University.  The team was led by Junior Ulysses Orozco (Lake Forest, Calif.) who was the individual champion at the event. 


The No. 9 ranking is the all-time highest position for the program in the coaches’ poll.  This is the second-straight ranking the team has been featured in the top ten.


The Viking cross country teams will next compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship meet at Swope Park in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 5.
