College to Celebrate Homecoming 2016

The Missouri Valley College community will celebrate Homecoming festivities Sept. 30-Oct. 2 on the MVC campus. The 2016 Homecoming theme is Vote Viking.

Activities include the 47th annual torch run, homecoming bonfire, alumni banquet, homecoming parade, pre-game tailgate, MVC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, 50-Plus Club breakfast, Saturday night mixer and a schedule of Viking athletic events.

“This year’s theme “Vote Viking” is a spirited take on the current political race in our country. We welcome our constituents back to campus for an amazing weekend filled with reunions, dinners, receptions, athletics, friends, and much more,” said Jennifer Hiller, director of alumni relations. “We hope you return to cast your vote and rekindle your love for Missouri Valley College.  Over 40,000 Vikings can’t be wrong! See you at voting booth!”

Four alumni will be recognized at the alumni banquet on Friday, Sept. 30 in the Charles L. Bacon Conference Center. Outstanding Alumni Award recipients include: Dr. James Helm ‘62 of Houston, Texas; Wayne Crawford ‘72 of Marshall, Missouri; Tom Fauquier ‘75 of Bethesda, Maryland; and Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient Michael Loveless ‘07 of St. Louis, Missouri.  The anniversary classes of 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2011 will also be recognized along with our affinity reunions of Humanics, Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and the 30th Anniversary of the men’s and women’s soccer teams.

The 2016 MVC Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees include: James Hargrave ‘64 of Warrensburg, Missouri; Doug McAnelly ‘76 of Indianola, Iowa; Jack Easley ‘77 of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Greg Purdum ‘77 of Louisiana, Missouri; Stephen Tuck ‘78  of Marshall, Missouri; Paul Day ‘91 of St. Charles, Missouri; and the 2002-2003 men’s wrestling team and coaching staff. The induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Oct. 1 in the Malcolm Center.
