Posted April 19, 2016

MVC Senior, Beau Allen, of the College’s graphicarts department, will host a solo art exhibition entitled Forefathers of American Country Music.  The show will be on display from April 25-29 in Baity Hall’s Vern Nestor Gallery.

Allen’s show will display ten black and white portraits of groundbreaking American country music stars such as Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings that helped shape country music and were trailblazers to future generations.

“My artwork on display features musicians that inspire me and I hope to emulate them in a clean pen and ink style to reflect the basic values of common hardworking men,” Allen said.  “I chose these men for their lyrics, their notoriety, and their individual contributions to the musical genre.”

Beau Allen is a visual arts major with a concentration in graphic design. He is also is involved with the Missouri Valley College men’s golf team and an officer and active member in the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Allen is from Republic, Missouri and is looking forward to his graphic design internship at Ample Industries this coming summer.  He plans to graduate in December 2016 and pursue jobs in graphic design.

An opening reception for the collection will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, April 25 in the Vern Nester Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.
