The Missouri Valley College Division of Fine Arts will present its annual spring choral show, Come to The Music, April 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. nightly in the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre. The show will feature the MVC Concert Choir, Valley Connection Show Choir and their guests, and the MVC Repertory Dance Ensemble.

“The show features a wide variety of musical styles ranging from traditional concert, traditional spirituals,  gospel, Broadway, and old/new pop,” said Show Director Diana Malan. “I enjoy enhancing our music with dance, so  our audiences will see a variety of dance styles incorporated throughout the evening.”

Among the songs that the Concert Choir will open the show with are Joseph M. Martins’ “Come to the Music,” James McCray’s “Rise Up, My Love, My Fair One,” and  Howard Helvey’s moving arrangement of one of our most popular spirituals, “Steal Away.” The group will also perform Ola Gjeilo’s piece  “The Ground,” and Paul Basler’s rousing “Alleluia.”  “The Voice,” made popular by Celtic Woman will be performed by the ladies.

King.  “Just the Way You Are” and “Flashlight” are selections from Pitch Perfect II that the group will perform.  “I Lived,” recorded by One Republic will also be performed.  A medley of Broadway tunes including “Strongest Suit,” “I Go to Rio,” and “Circle of Life” are also included the show.

The MVC Repertory Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Janie Morgan, will be dancing to the music of Frank Sinatra in honor of his 100th birthday.  They will also be dancing to some of the selections performed by the Concert and Show Choirs.
