Posted July 2, 2014

Former Missouri Valley College women's wrestler Clarissa Chun returned to campus to help with the Tenth Annual All-American Girl's Wrestling Camp hosted by Viking Women's Wrestling Head Coach Carl Murphree.

Chun is a two-time Olympian representing the United States in the 2008 Beijing Games and the 2012 London Games.  Chun earned a Bronze Medal in the 2012 Olympics wrestling in the 48kg weight class.  She was also the first American to win a medal during the 2012 London Games.

"Everyone involved with the program is very proud of Clarissa and all her accomplishments on the world stage," said Murphree.  "I appreciate her taking the time to come back to Missouri Valley and helping younger kids better understand the sport."

Chun wrestled at Missouri Valley from 2000-2002, helping the Vikings to a National championship in 2001.  She has been back on campus this week to help with the camp, which focuses on female wrestlers between the ages of 8-18.

Chun says that she is starting to prepare for competitions leading up to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
