MVC Spirit Squads Host Cupid Classic Saturday

MVC SPIRIT SQUADS HOST CUPID CLASSIC SATURDAY

 

Marshall, Mo. (February 8, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College spirit squads hosted the MVC Cupid Classic Saturday the Burns Athletic Complex. Five schools competed in either the dance or cheer competition at the event.

 

The MVC cheer squad took home the team championship in the cheer competition, placing No. 1 overall with a team score of 86.10. The Vikings beat No. 2 Central Methodist University which had an 80.55, with Graceland University taking third and Missouri Baptist University coming in No. 4.

 

In the dance competition, the Baker University dance team took the championship, placing No. 1 overall scoring 108.48, with the Viking dance team placing No. 2 scoring 99.97.

 

“The team had a hard evening the night before with the loss of a team member to injury,” said Head Coach Kristin Lyming. “But they pulled together and performed well. I was really impressed with their ability to adapt.”

 

The Vikings will next compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference championships at Baker University Saturday Feb. 15.
