MVC MEN’S VOLLEYBALL EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Marshall, Mo. (January 17, 2014)- The No. 9 Missouri Valley College men’s volleyball team opened its 2014 season on the road against Cincinnati Christian University Friday evening. The Vikings dominated much of the match and came away with a 25-14, 25-11, 25-11 victory.
Leading MVC in the 3-0 victory was Senior Outside Hitter Jacob Peterson (San Jose, Calif.) with eight kills, five digs and one ace, while Junior Outside Hitter Zach Brown (Plainfield, Ill.) finished with six kills, four digs and one ace. Sophomore Outside Hitter Stan Bosovik (Ozark, Mo.) and Senior Middle Blocker Jake Haar (La Mesa, Calif.) combined for 10 kills, while Senior Setter Will McCracken (Goleta, Calif.) finished with 16 assists and Junior Setter Joao Gurgel Amaral (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) had 17 assists.
MVC moves to 1-0 on the season while Cincinnati Christian falls to 0-1.
The Vikings will play three matches at the Mt. St. Joseph Tournament Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio. MVC starts the day with a match against Rust College at 10:30 a.m. The second match of the day will be against Lourdes College at 4:30 p.m., and the final match will be against the host school Mt. St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m.
