at Missouri Valley College

Why Choose Biology at Missouri Valley College?

Small class sizes and one-on-one attention
Wide variety of available biology courses
Hands on experience in field and lab settings
Friendly, diverse campus
Opportunities for collaborative research and internships

Biology majors at Missouri Valley College can choose between three concentrations:

  • Pre-Med Pre-Vet
  • Conservation
  • General Biology

The Pre-Med/Pre-Vet Concentration builds upon the courses in the Biology Core by adding additional training in subjects related to biomedical science. It also provides flexibility in completing internship training at our local hospital, veterinary clinics, or at other sites closer to where our students live. The intention is to prepare students for careers in professional settings, as well as research areas relating to the biomedical sciences, while also gearing them toward completion of their graduate level entrance exams (e.g. MCAT, GRE) in time to submit applications to other top programs in the field.

The Conservation concentration is designed for students interested in working for state, federal, or private organizations as wildlife managers, conservation agents, and field researchers as well as those that may choose to further their education in conservation through graduate school.

The General Biology concentration is for students needing a broad base in biology to prepare them for graduate school or other laboratory and field job opportunities.
