Mariëlle Heijltjes holds a Master (1990) and PhD (1995) in Economics and Business Administration from Maastricht University. After completing her PhD, she joined the Department of Organization Studies and Strategy as an assistant professor. In 2000 she was appointed associate professor in the same domain. Next to teaching and conducting research in the broad area of organization studies, she has held a number of administrative positions. She was a member of the Board of the Department of Organization Studies (1997-1999), co-founder and director of the Executive MBA program that Maastricht University conducted in association with Haus der Technik in Germany (1998-2000) and as Associate Dean the member of the Faculty Board responsible for all educational programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Maastricht University (2001-2004). During the spring of 2005 she was associated with Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand as a visiting professor in integrated business studies. Mariëlle is married to Michiel and has two children: Floris (1999) and Pepijn (2001).
