Facilities

  • Eckilson-Mabee Theatre
  • This 250 seat proscenium theatre is small enough to create an intimate environment yet large enough to support larger musicals. The Eckilson-Mabee Theatre is located inside the Technical Center and is home to the Division of Fine Arts Theatre Department. The theatre houses most of the theatre faculty as well as the Costume and Scene Shop. With digital lighting control and flexible sound the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre is not only a great place to see a play, musical, or concert but is also a fabulous place for a movie. The theatre is also equipped with the largest and brightest projector on campus with complete surround sound audio.

  • Morris Experimental Theatre (MET)
  • Our newest theatre on campus, the MET is designed for small intimate and experimental productions. The flexible seating risers and movable drapes allow us to reconfigure the theatre into any shape we wish. Audience members are not further than ten feet from the action. Located behind MacDonald Hall on Redman Ave this theatre is home to the Flatliners and many student productions as well as faculty directed shows. The MET is also used as an acting and directing classroom.

  • Jon and Dawnna Morris Dance Studio
  • Located in the basement of the Morrison Fine Arts Center the J & D Morris Dance Studio is home to the Repertory Dance Ensemble. The dance studio is also used for musical theatre and show choir rehearsals. Equipped with a sprung dance floor, wall to wall mirrors, and a stereo sound the studio provides a space for all of our dance needs. All dance courses are taught in the studio.

  • Scene Shop
  • Within the newest part of the Technical Center the Scene Shop sits just off the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre stage. The scene shop is equipped for both lumber and steel construction. The Scene Shop offers many work study opportunities. Most Theatre Majors will find themselves working in the Scene Shop at some point for their work study assignment. All of the scenic elements to our productions are built by students in our shop.

  • Costume Shop
  • You can find the Costume Shop directly above the Scene Shop. With new machines and equipment the Costume Shop will produce most of the costumes used on our stages. Work study opportunities are available in the Costume Shop as well and students do most of the sewing for our shows. No experience is needed to help out in either the Costume Shop or Scene Shop.
