Music Department - Valley Connection
Valley Connection. Valley Connection is a choreographed, show/musical theatre style vocal group. The group is typically between 12-16 members and is determined by fall auditions. Valley Connection is open to all interested MVC students.
The group was started in the early eighties as a swing style group and has evolved over the years into a performance group that specializes in Broadway, pop, and novelty styles of music. Members of the group come from a variety of different majors and interests. They are involved in varsity sports, other choral and instrumental ensembles, theatrical productions, college organizations, and Greek life.
They perform throughout the school year for a variety of events and shows including the Fall Showcase, the annual Celebration of Christmas Holdiay show and the end of year Spring Choral Show. Among some of the places that the group has been invited to perform at are Disneyworld, Universal Studios, Six Flags, Carnival Cruise Ship, and Nassau Bahamas. The group takes a performance trip every other year.
"Fine Arts" scholarships, for music ensemble participation, are available to students through audition.
Valley Connect meets from 2:00-3:30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Students earn one credit hour per semester for their participation. Three credit hours of choir will fulfill one of the requirements for the Arts/Creativity core and will also fulfill the Service Learning core.
