Missouri Valley College Repertory Dance Ensemble
Dyamond Ross is a senior dance major here at Missouri Valley. She was born and raised in Illinois and started dancing at the age of four at her church where she was able to combine her love for God and dance into one. She has had many dance opportunities like dancing with Endure Dance Productions and the Chicago Bulls Kidz. Dyamond has also danced backup for Pink Floyd, the Black Eyed Peas and Shirley Ceasar. During her free time she enjoy the company of her family and friends while keeping them laughing. After graduation she plans on attending Seminary were she will pursue theological studies and continue to combine her passion for dance. Dyamond is excited to start a new chapter in her life and continue to work hard for what she wants.
Leah has been studying dance for almost 12 years now and enjoys all styles. She has danced major roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Dying Swan. She is currently working on directing and choreographing a modern version of the Nutcracker for her senior project. She is double majoring in Dance and Psychology with dreams of becoming a Dance and Movement Therapist and working with kids dealing with trauma.
Tea is 21 and majoring in dance. Tea is from Denmark where she has studied Ballroom and Latin American dances since she was 3 in which she also competed. She has taught children in the age of 8-13 Ballroom and Latin American dances for two years. She also loves to dance Zumba and Showdance. She doesn’t know what she wants to do in the future but it will probably be something with dance and movement.
Emily is a 21 year old Senior. She transferred here from Cottey College with an Associate of Science and an Associate of Fine Arts degree. She is currently majoring in Dance and Biology Education, and will be receiving her Dance degree in the spring here at Missouri Valley. She fell in love with dance and performing at the age of three and has been following her passion ever since. Emily plans to one day be a biology teacher and to work as a dance instructor in a studio. Her goal in life is to experience and do as many things as possible. She has a hunger for knowledge and an active imagination that fuels her in the science and dance fields, something that she wants to share with others. She has been trained in many forms of dance but her favorite styles are Modern and Improvisation.
Rosemarie is a 20-year-old Dance Major from Independence, Missouri, who is very excited to finally be apart of the company. She has been dancing since the age of two years; furthermore, dancing and performing has always been a passion of hers. Along with the passion for performing, Rosemarie loves Disney and plans to work at the parks as one of the parade dancers or characters. However, she would also love to be a coach of a dance team at a high school or college.
Nikki is 20, and has been dancing since the age of seven. She was on a competing dance team from the age of 14-18.She is also from Kansas City, Mo. She performed many different styles of dance such as ballet, tap, jazz, modern/abstract, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, and a little bit of Irish. She is currently an exercise science major and minor in dance. She is hoping to be in a dance company one day.
I’m 20 and majoring in economics. I’m from Tokyo, Japan. I did classical ballet for almost six years from when I was six years old at Matsuyama Ballet Company. I also belonged to dancing club for six years at my junior and high school. In this club, I mainly did modern ballet and choreographed some pieces for contests that were held three times a year, and got prize at Tokyo dance contest. Nutcracker is my favorite program and I have danced flutes and waltz of flower. I’m so excited to dance in the Dance Company; MVC.
I am from South Korea and 22 years old. While studying hospitality major in Korea, I worked as an intern at the airport, travel agency, and accounting company. After getting Associate degree, I transferred to MVC to study deeply about Hospitality major. I love traveling and learning new things, especially languages. I have learned Taekwondo for 10 years and taught students as a master for a year. I always enjoy watching art performances, but never have a chance to learn. So I feel I am lucky to be here because I can learn many kinds of dances such as zumba and ballet.
When I was younger I took ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. My preferred genres are jazz and hip hop. I love music, I also played the flute for 7 years and was in marching band for 4. I am eighteen years old, I am the second oldest child out of 4. I am a very family orientated and miss my family daily, but I love being in college! I plan on double majoring in dance and exercise science. I want to be a physical therapist and dance teacher or dance coach in the future and help injured dancers get back on track.
Rebeca Daólio is 19, and has been studying dance since she was 10. Her favorite styles of dance are modern and ballroom. Rebeca is from Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, and was a foreign exchange student at Robinsdale Cooper High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a teacher's assistant at Academica Paulo Zanandré, the Brazilian academy where she studied ballroom. She is very excited to be a Dance Major at Valley this year. She is unsure what the future holds for her, and is keeping her options open. She has considered teaching, and owning her own studio.
