Missouri Valley College Repertory Dance Ensemble
Josephine Andersen s 20 and from Aarhus, Denmark. Through she is planning to make a career in the business world, and is currently majoring in management and marketing, she holds a great passion for everything artistic. In particular dance, which is moreover her minor. For the past years she has tried out different dance styles, including girly, funk and a form of acro dance, and is now determined to learn modern dance, as this is the dance style that she finds most beautiful.
Rebeca Daólio is 19, and has been studying dance since she was 10. Her favorite styles of dance are modern and ballroom. Rebeca is from Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, and was a foreign exchange student at Robinsdale Cooper High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a teacher's assistant at Academica Paulo Zanandré, the Brazilian academy where she studied ballroom. She is very excited to be a Dance Major at Valley this year. She is unsure what the future holds for her, and is keeping her options open. She has considered teaching, and owning her own studio.
Freshmen dancer Kelsey DeRousse from De Soto, Missouri, has been dancing for 16 years and counting. Starting at Dietrich's Dance Studio then competed with Flipside All Star Cheer/Dance, Olympiad Cheer & Dance, and De Soto high school Dance Team. Favorite styles are Contemporary, Lyrical Hip Hop, Tap and experienced in Contemporary, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, various Hip Hops, Jazz, Lyrical, and Theatrical.
Kelby Lawson, is currently a junior at Valley and has been a member of the dance company for the past three years. She grew up in Carrollton, MO where she danced at Shapes Dance and Acro studio beginning at the age of 5. Now, Kelby has permanently moved to Marshall and is pursuing her passion as a dance instructor at Shapes. Kelby is looking forward to graduation in May of 2015, however she will miss the friends and experiences that Director, Janie Morgan as well as the Fine Arts department has provided for her throughout the course of her education at Valley..
Robert Longboy, a graduate of Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii gives his life to art. A graphic design major and dance minor, he found himself in performance art when he joined his high school color guard. Through this, he continued performing in the marching arts at the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also been dancing for over four years, being first taught in jazz and moving into ballet and modern. Robert would like to continue in art after college by becoming a graphic designer and color guard director/designer. Tea Mortensen is 20 and majoring in dance. Tea is from Denmark where she has studied Ballroom and Latin American dances since she was 3 in which she also competed. For the past two years she has taught children in the ages of 8-13 Ballroom and Latin American dances. She also loves to dance Zumba and Showdance. She doesn’t know what she wants to do in the feature but it will probably be something with dance and movement.
Markeith Robinson is a 20 year old first year dancer from Jefferson City Missouri. Here at Missouri Valley he is currently studying Vocal Music Education with a Minor in Dance. He hopes to someday open a dance studio for troubled children in addition to teaching at a large high school.
Dyamond Ross , is a Sophomore, Dance Major from Chicago, IL.
Leah Rudd is a 19 year old transfer student from UMKC. She has been dancing for almost 11 years and is trained mainly in ballet, but enjoys learning all different types and styles of dance. She has danced many roles including the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. She feels blessed to have had the opportunity of dancing on stages such as the Folly Theater and The Kauffman Center of Performing Arts Theater in Kansas City. She is currently majoring in Dance and Psychology to pursue her dreams of helping others in becoming a dance therapist.
Emily Schaefer is a 20 year old transfer student from Cottey College. She has an Associate of Science and an Associate of Fine Arts degree from there and is currently majoring in Biology, Dance, and Education here at Missouri Valley. She fell in love with dance and performing at the age of three and has been following her passion ever since. Emily plans to one day be a biology teacher and to work as a dance instructor in a studio. Her goal in life is to experience and do as many things as possible. She has a hunger for knowledge and an active imagination that fuels her in the science and dance fields, something that she wants to share with others. She has been trained in many forms of dance but her favorite styles are Modern and Improvisation.
Ashley Stephens is from Dresden, MO. This is my senior year at Missouri Valley College. My major is psychology with a minor in dance. I plan on becoming an Equestrian therapist. I have had 4 years’ experience of different types of dance. This will be my first and last year due to being a senior dancing in the Repertory Dance Ensemble. Live by the motto better late than never, you only live once. I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity!
