Missouri Valley College Repertory Dance Ensemble
Leah Rudd is a 19 year old transfer student from UMKC. She has been dancing for almost 11 years and is trained mainly in ballet, but enjoys learning all different types and styles of dance. She has danced many roles including the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. She feels blessed to have had the opportunity of dancing on stages such as the Folly Theater and The Kauffman Center of Performing Arts Theater in Kansas City. She is currently majoring in Dance and Psychology to pursue her dreams of helping others in becoming a dance therapist.
Freshmen dancer Kelsey DeRousse from De Soto, Missouri, has been dancing for 16 years and counting. Starting at Dietrich's Dance Studio then competed with Flipside All Star Cheer/Dance, Olympiad Cheer & Dance, and De Soto high school Dance Team. Favorite styles are Contemporary, Lyrical Hip Hop, Tap and experienced in Contemporary, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, various Hip Hops, Jazz, Lyrical, and Theatrical.
Robert Longboy, a graduate of Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii gives his life to art. A graphic design major and dance minor, he found himself in performance art when he joined his high school color guard. Through this, he continued performing in the marching arts at the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also been dancing for over four years, being first taught in jazz and moving into ballet and modern. Robert would like to continue in art after college by becoming a graphic designer and color guard director/designer. He would like to thank his family and God for all of the support and blessings that he has been given over his journey."Life is but a daring adventure if nothing at all." Helen Keller
Tea Mortensen is 19 and majoring in dance. Tea is from Denmark where she has studied Ballroom and Latin American dances since she was 3 in which she also competed. For the past two years she had taught children in the age of 8-13 Ballroom and Latin American dances. She also loves to dance Zumba and Showdance. She doesn’t know what she wants to do in the feature but it will probably be something with dance and movement.
Markeith Robinson is a 20 year old first year dancer from Jefferson City Missouri. Here at Missouri Valley he is currently studying Vocal Music Education with a Minor in Dance. He hopes to someday open a dance studio for troubled children in addition to teaching at a large high school.
Dyamond Ross , is a Sophomore, Dance Major from Chicago, IL.
Aubree Brooke is a 20-year old transfer student. She has been dancing since the age of 3. Through the experiences and hardships she has gone through, she has grown to love and appreciate the movement and the beauty of dance. She believes it brings out so much inner beauty of a person. Aubree plans to minor in dance and major in exercise science at Missouri Valley College. One day she plans on receiving a masters degree in occupational therapy, and live that out as a career. Her dream is to help people in whatever way she can, by encouraging and uplifting their heart in whatever ways God calls her to do. Aubree loves the freedom of dance, that encourages her to become a stronger person. It was hard for her growing up to find herself through dance, now it’s a lifestyle. She has trained in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and characterization. Her favorite styles are contemporary, improvisation, and modern.
Rebeca Daólio is 19, and has been studying dance since she was 10. Her favorite styles of dance are modern and ballroom. Rebeca is from Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, and was a foreign exchange student at Robinsdale Cooper High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a teacher's assistant at Academica Paulo Zanandré, the Brazilian academy where she studied ballroom. She is very excited to be a Dance Major at Valley this year. She is unsure what the future holds for her, and is keeping her options open. She has considered teaching, and owning her own studio.
Kelby Lawson, is currently a junior at Valley and has been a member of the dance company for the past three years. She grew up in Carrollton, MO where she danced at Shapes Dance and Acro studio beginning at the age of 5. Now, Kelby has permanently moved to Marshall and is pursuing her passion as a dance instructor at Shapes. Kelby is looking forward to graduation in May of 2015, however she will miss the friends and experiences that Director, Janie Morgan as well as the Fine Arts department has provided for her throughout the course of her education at Valley..
Torey Miller has been dancing for twenty years. Currently as a Senior, she is a Dance major and business minor. She is also co-owner, head instructor and choreographer of Broadway Bound Dance Studio. Throughout her years of dance, she has obtained many competitive titles and choreography awards at both regional and national levels. She enjoys expanding her knowledge of dance daily and loves to share it with her own students. After graduation, Torey aspires to dance in a modern company and in the future have a dance studio of her own. She is thrilled to once again be part of Missouri Valley’s Repertory Dance Ensemble!
