Karla Bruntzel has been the Director of the Missouri Valley College Athletic Training Education Program since 2002. In 2005, she assumed the duties of the Dean of the Division of Education, Health and Physical Education. While in this position, she laid the groundwork for the development of the Nursing Education program and became the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. She currently holds the rank of Assistant Professor and teaches many classes in the areas of Athletic Training and Exercise Science.
Karla hails from Rossville, Kansas, and completed her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Masters degree in Sports Sciences at the University of Denver, and after working as a clinical athletic trainer at the high school and collegiate levels for nearly 10 years, she earned her PhD in Biomechanics at the University of Leeds, UK. Her research emphasis is in the area of foot biomechanics and footwear. Dr. Bruntzel currently resides in Marshall, MO, with her daughter, Hannah, a lovable mutt named Oscar and two cats. Her hobbies include travelling, reading, and cooking.
