Hospitality & Tourism Management Degree Program
The Hospitality & Tourism Management program is new at Missouri Valley College beginning in Fall 2009. The program is the result of a partnership between MVC and Pfoodman, the company that provides the foodservice for Missouri Valley. The program was developed with a guiding principle that it is very important for hospitality students to have the opportunity to get practical, real-world experience in the industry during their college years and to be able to learn from industry professionals. The HT program includes a solid core of business and management courses, as well as hospitality and tourism courses. All students will complete a supervised internship and learn how the hospitality industry can contribute to the sustainability of local communities through the development of tourism and use of local products and talent. New in 2011: Pfoodman and Hospitality & Tourism Management students are managing the J. Huston Tavern, a restaurant listed on the National Register of Historic Places, located in nearby Arrow Rock, MO. Check it out at www.jhustontavern.com.
Pfoodman has provided the foodservice at Missouri Valley since 2001. Pfoodman is a contract foodservice company whose philosophy of partnering with customers has led to several innovative projects. The HT degree program at MVC is one of those projects—Pfoodman is providing financial support for HT faculty.
