2010 NAIA Central Qualifier Brackets/Results
Missouri Valley College 184 pounds, Chad Williams (St. Louis, Mo.) won the NAIA National Wrestling Championship tonight at the Abe Lemons Arena/Freede Center in Oklahoma City Okla.. Chad defeated Mark Peiffer of Dana College by a 7-6 decision. He becomes the first National Champion since Paul Collum at 141 pound weight class in 2005.Chad is a two-time All-American for the Vikings.
The Notre Dame of Ohio won the championship with 179.5 points, second place went to Southern Oregon, 120 points, Great Falls. is just one and half back in third at 118.5 points, followed by Missouri Valley with 110.5 points and McKendree with 105.5 points to round out the top-five teams.

Oklahoma City, Okla. (March 6, 2010) - The third, fifth, and seventh-place matches have been completed at the 2010 NAIA National Wrestling Tournament. Missouri Valley College had five wrestlers competing in this round.
At 133 pounds, sophomore Colin Pierce (Kearney, Mo.) defeated Brian Jacob of Southern Oregon University for third place by a 10-2 decision. Colin becomes an All-American for the Vikings with his performance today.
At 141 pounds, senior Eric Graham (Platte City, Mo.) lost a hard fought match against Timothy Mitchem of the University of the Cumberlands in the seventh-place match 4-0. Eric becomes an All-American for the second time in his career for the Vikings.
At 157 pounds, senior Joe Cornejo (Haysville, Kansas)ended the day in fourth place with a difficult match against Tyler Chang of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University losing 5-4. Joe becomes a two-time All-American for the Vikings.
At 184 pounds, sophomore Jesse Alter (Kirksville, Mo.) after a heartbreaking lost in the consolation semi-finals, Jesse bounced back to win against Jordanyl Logan of Grand View University 5-2. Jesse becomes an All-American for the first time as a Viking.
At 197 pounds, junior Charlie Gibbs (Moberly, Mo.) pinned Ronald Lee of Southern Oregon University in forty-one seconds to finish the tournament in seventh place. Charlie becomes an All-American for the Vikings.
The Notre Dame of Ohio holds a 49-point advantage to second place Great Falls (Mont.), 167.5-118.5. Southern Oregon is just six and half back in third at 112.5 points, followed by Missouri Valley with 106.0 points and Dickinson State with 105.5 points to round out the top-five teams.

Oklahoma City, Okla. (March 6, 2010) - Missouri Valley College 133 pound Colin Pierce and 157 pound Joe Cornejo advanced this morning into the third place matches later this morning. Colin wrestled Anton Prater of Missouri Baptist University winning a decision 15-0. Joe Cornejo defeated local favorite Nik Turner of Oklahoma City University 11-4.
Valley will have five wrestler still alive in the consolation rounds this morning. Chad Williams at 184 pound weight class will be the lone wrestler for MVC in the NAIA National Championships tonight at the Abe Lemons Arena/Freede Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Great Falls and California Baptist will have two grapplers in the finals. Cambellsville (Ky.), Cumberland (Tenn.), Dana (Neb.), Dickinson State (N.D.), Grand View (Iowa), Lindenwood (Mo.) and Missouri Valley will also be represented in championship bouts.

(Oklahoma City, Okla., March 5) – Missouri Valley College is currently in sixth place at the NAIA National Wrestling Tournament. The Vikings will send only Chad Williams (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) who won on a very close 3-2 decision against Clete Hanson of Simon Frazier to put him into the semi-finals tonight. Nine Viking wrestlers will battle in the consolation bracket to keep their hopes alive.

At 125 pounds, sophomore Paulie Hansen (Turner, Kansas) pinned Bryan Borst of the University of Great Falls in his only match this morning. He will take on Taylor Louie of William Penn University tonight.
At 133 pounds, sophomore Colin Piece (Kearney, Mo.) won his only match this morning with a 10-2 decision over Jeremy Mazon of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He will take on Matt Jacobson of Dana College.
At 141 pounds, senior Eric Graham (Platte City, Mo.) lost a decision in the championship quarterfinals to Kyle Williams of McKendree University by the score of 14-0. He will take on the winner of Jacob Thornton of Missouri Baptist University and Mitch Newcomer of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University tonight in the consolation round.
At 149 pounds, senior Brian Graham (Platte City, Mo.) pinned David Fuller of Waldorf College in the first period. He will take on Adam Kurimshi of Grand View University on the consolation side of the bracket.
At 157 pounds, senior Joe Cornejo (Haysville, Kansas) lost a hard fought 4-2 decision in the championship quarterfinals to Dustin Center of University of the Cumberlands. He will wrestle the winner of Jake Johnson of Lindenwood University and Tim Hammond of Bacone College tonight in the consolation round.
At 165 pounds, junior D.W. Bradshaw (Marshall, Mo.) won his only match in the second session with a 16-1 decision over Matt Mueller of Morningside College. He will take on Preston Brown of California Baptist University tonight.
At 174 pounds, junior Alex McKinney (Marshall, Mo.) was eliminated from the tournament with a 10-3 decision to Joe Pace of Baker University. Alex ended the 2009-2010 season with a record of 22-13.
At 174 pounds, sophomore Jacob Guemsey (Springfield, Mo.) was also eliminated from the tournament with a fall in the third period to Andrew Hairston of Lindsey Wilson College. Jacob ended this season with a 14-12 record.
At 184 pounds, sophomore Jesse Alter(Kirksville, Mo.) was pinned in the first period by Brian Block of Morningside College. Jesse will wrestle the winner of Spencer Adams of Campbellsville University and Casey Finnicum of the University of Sioux Falls tonight in the consolation round.
At 197 pounds, junior Charlie Gibbs (Moberly, Mo.) lost a 12-3 decision in his championship quarterfinal to Nic Leither of Northwestern College. He will wrestle the winner of Justin Rau of Grand View University and Joe Lockett of Morningside College in the consolation side of the bracket.
At 285 pounds, junior Travis Ewart (Riverside, Calif.) won a 8-5 decision over Brad Hughes of Northwestern College. He then advanced in the next round by a default by Willie Wiggins of Lindenwood University. He will wrestle tonight against Jason Lloyd of Yorktown College.
The Championship Semifinals, Consolation 4th Round, All-American Round, and Consolation 5th Round-quarterfinal will begin tonight starting at 6:00 PM .

OKLAHOMA CITY - Notre Dame (Ohio) pushed 10 wrestlers through the championship bracket to take the early lead with 44 points at the 53rd Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University. Southern Oregon is in second place with 38 points and has eight wrestlers in the championship bracket. Missouri Valley is third (32 points), McKendree (Ill.) is fourth (31 points) and Great Falls (Mont.) is fifth (28 points) to round out the top five teams after the first day of action.
Notre Dame picked up bonus point performances in 13 matches, led by 149-pounder Ashtin Primus. The sophomore notched a major decision and back-to-back falls to provide big points for the Falcons. Of 12 wrestlers taking the mat for Notre Dame, only two fell into the consolation bracket in the first session.
Three-time defending national champion Lindenwood (Mo.) wrapped up the first day in sixth place with 25.5 points. Nine Lions suffered defeat and will have to work back through the consolation bracket, while three wrestlers are still alive in the championship bracket.
Pins were prevalent with 59 sticks registered, including seven in under 60 seconds. Chauncey Phillips of California Baptist recorded the quickest fall of the day by putting Oklahoma City’s Bryce Dicus on his back in 29 seconds at 125 pounds.
Two sessions are slated for Friday, starting with a 10 a.m. round of championship quarterfinals along with preliminary, first, second and third round matches of consolation action. The third session gets underway at 6 p.m. and will feature championship semifinal matches and two rounds of consolation wrestling.

Oklahoma City, OK. - The 53rd Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships will get underway today at Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University. The event will feature three days of action on the mat, capped off with 10 individuals earning national titles on Saturday night and the crowning of a team champion.
Today’s action will get underway at 1 p.m. CST with a single session of championship round preliminary and first round matches. Two sessions will take place on Friday, starting with a 10 a.m. round of championship quarterfinals along with preliminary, first, second and third round matches of consolation action. The third session, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, will feature championship semifinal matches and two rounds of consolation wrestling. Medal matches will get underway at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by the championship finals starting at 6:30 p.m.
