MVC Vikings Men's Volleyball Staff
Brett Holt - Director of Volleyball Operations
Brett Holt begins his fourth year with the men's volleyball program, but will transition into the role of Director of Volleyball Operations. During his tenure Coach Holt guided the Vikings to a 67-28 overall record and three NAIA Top 10 finishes. His 2012 and 2013 teams both won 21 games, making it the first time in school history to win back to back 20 matches in a season. The 2014 Vikings continued to break the record books going 23-11 overall and breaking the school record for wins in a season that was set the previous two years. The squad earned 4 all-conference players, the conference Libero of the Year, and the school’s first ever AVCA All-American. Coach Holt has coached 12 all-conference players, including two conference Freshman/Newcomers of the Year and two conference Liberos of the Year. The program has also had 10 scholar athletes in the past three years. Coach Holt will also be entering his third season as the women’s coach at MVC, having a combined 43-19 record in his first two seasons.
In college, Coach Holt was a four-year setter on The Ohio State University men’s volleyball club team. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in sport and leisure studies with a concentration in recreation management and coaching from The Ohio State University in June 2001. Previous to joining the staff, Coach Holt has held various coaching positions at the high school, club, and collegiate club levels. As the varsity assistant at West Holmes High School in Millersburg, Ohio from 1999-2006, the team made six appearances in the Ohio High School Division 2 State Final Four, including runner-up finishes in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He was also the head coach from 2000-2005 of the women’s club team at The Ohio State University, where in 2005, he guided the Buckeyes to a National runner-up finish at the N.I.R.S.A Collegiate Club Championships in Kansas City. He spent 2011 as the head coach of the 17-U National girl’s team with Mintonette Sports, the top club program in Central Ohio.
Coach Holt received his Master’s Degree in sport and athletic business administration from the University of Central Missouri in June 2013.
Jason Fistick - Men's Volleyball Head Coach/Women's Volleyball Graduate Assistant
Jason Fistick will be joining the Missouri Valley College volleyball coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2014-2015 season. He will serve as an assistant coach on the women's team, but hold head coaching duties for the men's volleyball program.
During college, Coach Fistick was an outside hitter and libero with the Kent State University men's volleyball club team.
Prior to joining the Missouri Valley staff, Coach Fistick worked with various club volleyball organizations including the Elite Volleyball Training Center in Columbus, Ohio, HiP in St. Louis, Mo., and Vital Volleyball in Minneapolis, Minn.
Tamika Drake -
Women's and Men's Volleyball Graduate Assistant Coach
Tamika Drake, aka “Coach T”, is entering her first season on the Viking coaching staff in 2014. In addition to her role as the Missouri Valley graduate assistant women’s volleyball coach, she will also serve as graduate assistant coach for the men’s volleyball program.
As a student-athlete in college, Coach Drake earned a walk-on position and played two seasons at The Ohio State University as defensive specialist and one season on The Ohio State University women’s volleyball club team. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/ Pre-medicine and African/African-American Studies minor at The Ohio State University in the spring of 2005.
Prior to joining the MVC coaching staff, Coach Drake coached various teams at high school and club levels. As the Head Varsity Coach at Euclid High School in Euclid, Ohio from 2007-2011, her team won the Lake Erie League championship in 2010-11. Coach T was voted 2010 Northeast Ohio District 2 Coach of the Year and Lake Erie League Coach of the Year. Coach T has also coached several girls 16-u, 17-u and 18-u with Eastside Volleyball Club in Cleveland, Ohio and Fort Bend Fire Volleyball Club in Houston, Texas.
Coach T is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management at University of Central Missouri.
Jake Haar-Student Assistant/Junior Varsity Head Coach
Jacob Haar will handle coaching duties as a student assistant during the 2014-2015 athletic season. Haar is from San Diego, Calif., is currently majoring in sports management and plans to graduate in the spring of 2015.
Haar played college volleyball for four years, the first two of which at Grossmont Community College where he received second team all-conference selections both years. He also played in the California state finals in 2011 and the semi-finals in 2012.
Haar played his final two years of college volleyball at Missouri Valley College. He received second team all-conference and Newcomer of the Year in 2013 and first team all-conference while leading the conference and nation in hitting percentage and being top 5 in 3 other statistical categories in 2014. Haar helped the Vikings reach the conference championship match in 2014.
