Coach Derick White has been named the head coach for the Mens and Womens Volleyball programs in January of 2009.

Prior to joining the Missouri Valley staff, Coach White spent 2 seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I University of Missouri- Kansas City (UMKC). While at UMKC, White coached two All-Freshmen selections as well as one of the top rated servers in the NCAA. During his tenure, the team more than doubled their wins in back-to-back seasons. Coach White has also coached for several top-notch club programs in Missouri, as well as spending 2 seasons at Carl Junction High School in Carl Junction, MO.

In college, Coach White played competitive volleyball, as well as played Catcher/Designated Hitter for the Lions baseball team at Missouri Southern State University under Coach Warren Turner. White was a highly decorated high school and collegiate student-athlete both athletically and academically. The balance of academics and athletics at an institution is vital to the success of all student-athletes. Missouri Valley has found that balance and is giving all athletes the ability to be successful at a high level. I couldnt be more excited to be a part of the Viking tradition and am looking forward to seeing both volleyball programs take the steps needed to reach success.

Originally from Webb City, MO, Coach White earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Secondary Education (Social Sciences) from Missouri Southern State University and his Masters of Arts in Education (Curriculum and Instructional Leadership) from the University of Missouri- Kansas City.
