The Missouri Valley College Viking's softball program competes in the NAIA's Heart of America Athletic Conference, which consists of 11 institutions from Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. The Missouri Valley College athletic department is traditionally one of the strongest in the HAAC and the softball program strives to maintain that reputation.

The program received a change of leadership during the 2007 season and looks to build off their strong finish. The Vikings finished the 2007 season 2nd in the HAAC with a 13-7 conference record, finishing the season with an overall record of 26-16 after being eliminated from the Region V post season tournament. The Vikings finished the year with four all-conference selections, and four academic all-region selections.

The question arises what does it take to be a Viking? To be a Viking one must dedicate themselves to the team, mentally, physically, academically, and athletically. Being a student-athlete is an honor, but brings a lot of responsibility with it. Student comes first, and as a player one must handle the responsibilities of the classroom before being rewarded the privileges of competing on the field at the college level.

The Vikings coaching staff has a vast knowledge of the game, and understands the dedication and hard work it takes to experience this game at a championship level. The Vikings head into the 2008 with high expectations after rebuilding and putting together a group of girls that understand the true meaning of TEAM.
