Hall of Fame Committee Functions
Nominating & Selection Committee:
- Develop a process and means to receive nominations.
- Develop a slate of nominees to exceed by 100% the number to be inducted.
- Maintain a current slate of nominees and secure eligibility verification.
- Establish a process to notify those to be inducted.
- Select current inductees.
- With strict confidence, notify inductee or representatives.
- Receive agreement to participate;
- Responsible for appropriate public announcement.
Induction Ceremony Committee:
- Confirm banquet date and time.
- Handle all details of organizing the ceremony including.
- Use electronic presentations when possible.
- Maintain effective and efficient programming.
- Prepare banquet announcements well in advance.
- Always have host for the inductee and family.
Development Committee:
- Responsible, in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Advancement, for all details of fundraising for the organization [including direct mail solicitations].
- Identify and cultivate donor prospects for gifts to Athletic Hall of Fame projects, programs, and activities.
- Solicit, in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Advancement, Athletic Director and/or athletic coaches, gifts for Athletic Hall of Fame projects, programs [including endowed scholarship], and activities.
- Responsible for public awareness/publicity of Athletic Hall of Fame projects, programs, and activities pertaining to fundraising for the organization.
- Responsible, in conjunction with the Athletic Director and the Office of Institutional Advancement, for appropriate recognition of donors to the Athletic Hall of Fame.
- Responsible, in conjunction with the Athletic Director and/or athletic coaches and the Office of Institutional Advancement, for stewardship of donors to the Athletic Hall of Fame.
